Mr. Geffs, 40, brings a unique combination of experience as an operator and business builder, as well as in corporate finance and M&A, in both traditional and new media companies. Prior to joining JEGI, Mr. Geffs was CEO of Internet Broadcasting Systems, a national network of 70 local television Web sites operated in partnership with NBC, Hearst-Argyle Television, The Washington Post Company and other major broadcasters. He led the company’s growth to national coverage, managed its capital raising and corporate finance activities, built the sales operations and directed it to profitability. Previously, Mr. Geffs held the position of CFO for Capital Publishing, a consumer magazine publisher, where he steered new business development and managed the sale of the company. During his tenure with Plaza Communications, he helped turn around the company’s flagship publication, Registered Representative, the #1 magazine for stockbrokers. JEGI represented the company in its eventual sale to Primedia. Mr. Geffs began his career in the M&A department of Shearson Lehman Brothers, and also consulted for media companies with McKinsey & Company. Mr. Geffs earned an MBA from Harvard Business School as a Baker Scholar, and a BA in English and a BS in Engineering Physics with Honors from the University of California at Berkeley.
