Exhibitions & Conferences

JEGI is the leading investment bank serving the Exhibitions & Conferences sector. Since 2000, the firm has represented clients – major public corporations, private equity firms, associations, and entrepreneurial companies – in transactions involving the sale of nearly 1,000 events (B2B and B2C conferences and exhibitions), significantly more than any other firm.

JEGI actively supports the event industry through its involvement with the leading research organizations and associations, including CEIR Exhibition Industry Index and SISO Tradeshow Web Site Project.

JEGI has been involved in many of the event industry’s signature transactions, including most recently:

  • Gartner in the sale of its Vision Events for the IT sector to CMP (United Business Media);
  • Becker Group, a leading provider of event and experiential marketing services, to Viad Corp;
  • dmg world media in its acquisition of the remaining 51% of George Little Management for $155 million;
  • The Festival Network in its acquisition of Festival Productions and subsequent $10 million Series C financing from Guggenheim Partners; and
  • Convention Management Group, a full service tradeshow management company, in its sale to Naylor

In 2006, JEGI closed 15 M&A transactions of B2B and consumer event companies or companies with an event component, including the sale of events on behalf of:

  • Large global media companies, such as Reed Exhibition's US and Canadian manufacturing and
  • industrial tradeshows, and Landmark's Shorecliff division;
  • Private equity firms, such as Great Hill Partners' Action Media, Frontenac's 101 Communications, and Pfingsten Partner's Pfingsten Publishing; and
  • Entrepreneurial businesses, such as Alert Global Media, Evanta, Asian Venture Capital Journal, and Strategic Research Institute.
