JEGI & Clarity Co-Advise Enterprise Technology Tradeshow Organizer Imago Techmedia in Sale to Clarion Events
New York, NY, October 13, 2015 – Imago Techmedia, a leading enterprise technology tradeshow organizer, announced it has been acquired by Clarion Events, one of the most established independent events organizers in the UK and a Providence Equity Partners portfolio company. The deal will see Imago Techmedia’s brands IP EXPO Europe, Cyber Security EXPO Europe, IP EXPO Manchester and UC EXPO grow in terms of commercial scope and reach, while retaining the core values that have produced some of the UK’s most successful technology events in recent years. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Imago Techmedia was co-advised by JEGI (www.jegi.com), the leading independent investment bank for the global media, information, marketing, software and tech-enabled services sectors, headquartered in New York, NY, and Clarity (www.claritycp.com), a leading independent investment bank serving the media and technology industries, headquartered in London.
Founded in 2003 by Hugh Keeble and Mark Steel, the company has built a successful and highly regarded portfolio of industry-leading technology events. Imago’s unique event formula has been developed over the past 10 years through close working relationships with global IT brands, including HP, Microsoft and Cisco. Its content-focused events are known for giving exhibitors and visitors an innovative, compelling and cost-effective experience, with practical and thought-provoking advice and information.
With the completion of the transaction, Mark Steel has joined Clarion as Chairman of Imago, and Hugh Keeble has left the company.
Mark Steel said, “Clarion is the perfect partner for Imago’s next stage of growth. With Clarion’s breadth of knowledge and experience in the global events market, this transaction provides tremendous potential for Imago’s future development.”
He added, “Working with Clarion will enable us to preserve our fundamental principles – providing exhibitors and attendees with ROI, lead generation and customer services – while also enhancing our existing technology events and expanding reach across the global technology market.”
“We have been consistently impressed with Imago Techmedia’s unique and disruptive market offering and the quality of its content-first approach. The opportunity to work with the Imago team to grow these brands even further is not only an exciting one but also gives us a strong footprint in what is for us a new dynamic industry sector. It is a very strong addition to our portfolio and one for which we have big ambitions,” commented Simon Kimble, Executive Chairman, Clarion Events.
